Anytime you're heading for an outdoor adventure it's vital to have everything you need. Even if you're just going to the beach for the afternoon, it's important to pack the essentials. Think about the time you went outside for the afternoon and forgot sunscreen... we've all been there and we've all regretted it.
So to ensure you don't have these "Oh Poo" moments of forgetting important camping equipment and gear I have put together the basics that you must include!
Of course depending on the location, harshness of elements and length of the trip will determine the full load that you will have.
Camping Equipment List
Tent site:
Tent: Several options here: family tents, single tents, 2-person tents, even tents for truck beds to give you the best tent site for your camping party.
Tent setup tools: Axe (leatherman), hammer, mini survival shovel, extra stakes, dust pan/brush/
Sleeping Bags: Type of camping sleeping bag will depend on the weather and temperatures you'll be getting your zzzz's in. Sleeping bags are made at different levels for different degrees and warmth quality. Down sleeping bags, double sleeping bags, and of course standard bags are just a few options.
Pillows and extra blankets
Air mattresses
Layered clothes: Pack clothes that can be thrown on as layers to handle warmer days and cooler nights Plus it helps with packing space.
Extra outdoor tent shelters for big parties to eat, play and stay out of unexpected bad weather.
Cooking gear
The most important in my books. Campsite cooking are some of the best camping memories. Make sure you have all you need to have your special camp meals: smores, hot dogs, beans... you know those special foods.
Coolers/ice: portable 2-in-1 coolers and grills are awesome!
Camping stove-grill
Propane
Matches
Pots and pans
Utensils and cups
Water (water purification tablets if needed)
Food: trail bars, fruit, meats, beans, rice, pasta, sauces, buns, marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate (of course), water bottles to carry while hiking around, nuts, and other snacks and meals... plan them all out before you leave.
Toiletries
We don't often think about it and often times our toiletries are the things we forget anytime we leave home, but most times we go out of town we can stop by a drugstore but if you're in the middle of no where before you remember your forgotten items, that's just bad news bears.
Toilet paper
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Soap
Towels/rags
Feminine products
Brush and such
Shampoo and hair products
Sun goes down
When the sun goes down be prepped for campfires and being able to enjoy yourself. It stinks to find yourself sitting in the dark forced to go to bed at 8pm because you forgot basics to make your fire.
Propane, lanterns, flashlights, matches (waterproof), fire extinguisher
Miscellaneous
Must haves that you CANNOT forget
Sunscreen
Chapstick
Emergency/survival gear
Camping-hiking backpack for outings
Insect repellant
Cell phone (there are wind up chargers for emergencies)
First aid kit and manual
Ok, so here is your core camping equipment checklist. Of course depending exactly where and when you go will determine if anything else needs to be added such as coats, ice picks, bathing suits, etc.
